Amidst the turbulent and spiritually testing Kali Yuga, Sankirtan is our lighthouse. This period, full of a terrible conglomeration of base instincts and temptations from the world outside makes it very difficult for those on the path. But, Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, a revered spiritual master provides a deeper understanding of this subject; he states why Sankirtan with rūpadhyāna (remembrance lovingly) as the way to get divine grace is most commendable in this era.

The Efficacy of Sankirtan :- The practice of sankirtan is strongly recommended as the easiest and most efficient means of attaining spiritual enlightenment, especially in the Kali Yuga. Although there are other spiritual practices like yoga or penance etc., they require much effort and high moral standards which today is difficult to maintain. However, Sankirtan is available to absolutely everyone, no matter what they are or where they stand spiritually. It involves group chanting and singing of sacred names, especially Shri Radha Krishna’s, clearing the hearts and minds and finally getting to a state where we love God and realize Him.”

The Essence of Rūpadhyāna :- But Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj stresses that without rūpadhyāna, Sankirtan is not complete on its own. Sankirtana’s soul is rūpadhyāna, the loving recall of the holy forms and pastimes. It entails focusing on the heavenly leelas and dwellings of Shri Radha and Krishna, as well as their captivating forms, via visualisation and meditation. This loving remembrance enhances the efficacy of Sankirtan, thus transforming it from simply a mechanical recitation to a deeply immersive and therefore transformative spiritual experience.

Without rūpadhyāna, Sankirtan can become a hollow practice bereft of the emotional and devotional intensity that is so necessary for spiritual progress. Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj likens it to a body without a soul. Engaging in rūpadhyāna while chanting the divine names ensures that the mind remains fixed on God to prevent it from wandering into worldly thoughts or negative thinking and infuses our chanting with love longing, and feelings of deep connection with the Divine.

Addressing Doubts and Challenges :- Another difficulty that may come is when the sinful tendencies persist even with regular Sankirtan, or doubts may arise in the mind as to whether this path is going to work. Doubts arise about the validity and authenticity of what we are hearing from Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj and performing too, as he speaks so much about scripture being authorized. This doubt naturally arises after a year if Rupdhyan is not performed while hearing, remembering, and chanting.

On the other hand, the practitioner can undergo significant inner transformation and spiritual elevation by incorporating rūpadhyāna into Sankirtan. The heart is filled with divine love as one remembers Shri Radha Krishna, which progressively purges sinful impulses and transforms the mind and spirit. It strengthens the sādhaka’s dedication to the spiritual path by establishing a strong feeling of confidence and conviction in the holy names and the lessons found in the scriptures.

The Gift of Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj :- Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj In his teachings, Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj has skillfully explained the principles of Sankirtan and the crucial significance of rūpadhyāna. In these difficult Kali Yuga times, his deep insight and loving counsel have given seekers of spirituality a clear and doable way to achieve divine grace. He says to satisfy your mind by all means through Sankirtan and rūpadhyāna, after that perform any practice you want. The goal is to achieve divine love for God.

This invaluable spiritual knowledge, encapsulated in his writings, serves as a guiding light for all devotees. It reassures them that despite the daunting challenges of Kali Yuga, the divine names, when chanted with love and remembrance, have the power to elevate, transform, and lead them to the ultimate goal of divine love and realization. By embracing this practice with faith and devotion, every reader can derive immense spiritual benefits and experience the boundless grace and love of Shri Radha Krishna.
